My Foolish Heart
My foolish heart – what could I do
when into my young life you blew
like zephyr breeze one day in May?
A rose was I - held in your sway,
caressed by love so sweet and new.
Amazed was I! The gust of you
enraptured me, and I thought too
that gone were all my clouds of gray.
My foolish heart!
Your love that seemed so strong and true
was soon to make my world askew.
Although you’d said you’d always stay,
my breeze – once gentle – blew away.
A cutting wind, you then pierced through
my foolish heart.
