My First Ball
I've been waiting for this magical night
This year at last I'm old enough to go
The lights of the palace are oh, so bright
A sight that sets my anxious heart aglow
The gowns, lovely hues, skirts gently sway
Whirling, twirling with the bowing, bending
The steps that delight and demand attention
Seems a kaleidoscope of color never ending
Just a small sip of wine between dances
A warm embrace and a quick stolen kiss
Silken words from my handsome admirer
My unforgettable night of youthful bliss
