Mother
We are connected,
in ways that can not...
easily be explained.
They must be felt,
and lived through.
Your soft voice was the first,
I heard as I lay inside.
It was held in the magic...
of your heartbeat.
A "music" I found peaceful,
and safe.
When I could not see your face,
nor you mine...
We still recognized each other.
That has not lessened,
by birth or years.
It has grown.
When I am in trouble,
I remember all that you have taught.
When I am in need,
I know that you have led me well,
and I will be okay.
ABC's and 123's,
skinned knees and apple trees.
Now...
I give you back,
a token of my gift.
The one...
that you... never stopped giving,
to me.
I love you...
mom.
