Mites upon the flotsam

We are mites upon the flotsam -
mites who long to know
the diamond wind which carved the stars

We are blips in boundless aeons -
blips who dream of clutching
shining swathes of space and time

We are momentary nothings,
we might as well be dust specks
in the dark - but we are everything
for we are the observers...

As a blip and a spec, my opinion might not matter but this poem was brilliant. Good luck in the contest Nina!

Nicely done.."we are everything.."is a line to spend some time with.! The spacecraft Voyager turned and took a picture of Earth just before it left the Solar System.A tiny blue dot amongst trillions of others

Great metaphors, Nina. Makes me think of "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas. Janice

Nice. Last line is unique. I will try on my own style.

You went where my muse went but I'm not sure I'd have pulled it off as brilliantly (haven't written yet - just my muse's initial reaction after reading your contest); your imagery is amazing, Nina. You blew me away, speck that I am. I'll get back to my muse though, once I stop thinking about these lines I definitely love, absolutely do. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

Ah, the tiny particular midst the vast universal. Shakespeare is beaming down at you. (I hope that's ok with you. If not, I'll let him know to chill). :) gw
