Mercy From the Memory of Multitudes -

Let them say I was a simple, stubborn person, hypersensative or insensative, a dispenser or partial justice, a person of particular patience, may those who encountered me in moments of bliss or blight, in instances of charity, charisma or condemnation speak of me ruefully & beautifully, some will surely say that I was apolitical, asexual, atypical, an atheist an animist, a racist or an altruist, a want to be soldier, a combatant for my liberty, others, I suppose, that I was selfish as sin, courteous like kindness, and furious as a frustrated phantom, maybe they'll say I was gay or anticompliance, I do not dare require truth, fact or fiction from my bifurcated biographers, I only ask for their breath, their rosey & ruse recollections of my life so stark, let them say that they knew me, let them say that I lived, that I lived lovingly, lonesomely, and learnedly, let them witness my reality like laughter in the dark - J.A.B.

Favorite! Well, I have a couple, but I just love this one. Love how you refer to them as your "bifurcated biographers". You will surely be remembered in so much light. For you are truly enlightening. Last line is just riveting. Incidentally, like your new avatar! Always, Laura

Yeah Laura, we all have biographers telling the world what they think we are or how they think we should have been or could have been, and there is a strong possibility that our biographies will follow us into the 'after life' too - being remembered is a great means to immortality my friend - J.A.B. % - thanks again for respecting my work -

Probing your depths is like finding treasures I never knew existed. I love your use of the syllables as you create each line. I think that repetition is so effective in poetry and you make good use of it. Great write my friend! Love Lizzie

I'm glad you noticed the alliteration Joann because that was very deliberate by me - I decided early in the stages of this autobiographical piece to eschew any focus on rhyme or metaphor and instead concentrate on categories and that curious facet of the English lanuage that presents dichotomies in concepts such as typical/atypical - the poem embraces opposites & contradictions in relation to slander & hersey in particular -

Although I have a tendency to be extoverted I like to reserve the option, ideosyncracy of being inscrutable & elusive Andrea, and the last metaphor illustrates that trait - so glad that you and I can relate - thanks - J.A.B. %

Oh, I love this write, Justin! I can say this about you, you've the ablility of helping others see, though 'some' might lash out at you for they don't like seeing their own weaknesses. You didn't mention that you're honest, but it's an obvious fact. You are modest and humble, but can be bold and assertive, if required. I think you are kind and can be selfless when helping another! Best wishes.... Love, Mikki
