Macintosh Brittle

Mackintosh Brittle

My name is Mackintosh Brittle,
I live in a world that’s my own.
The Fairies have gone, danced away,
Leaving a note, “we have flown.”

Please don’t disturb mother,
She’s sleeping in the other room.
Is she expecting you today?
You must be an old friend, I presume.

Why is the teapot in the window?
I’m sure that I put it away.
Would you like a nice cup of tea?
Thirsty myself, haven’t had one all day.

Oh! are you going already,
Please wait, she’ll be waking up soon,
Goodbye then, I’ll tell her you called.
My goodness is that a full moon.

Now where is that silly old cat,
She’s not been home for a while.
I gave her the nickname Cheshire,
Because of that silly broad smile.

Can you smell something burning?
Coming through the bedroom door.
Has Timothy been playing with matches again,
Mother will give him what for.

Have you seen the fairies this morning?
It’s their turn to wash up the pots.
Something bit me in the garden,
Look mother, I’m covered in spots.

Slight pause ………

MAC, MAC, come on lad,
Time for your medication.
We had to calm you down again last night,
With our magic pill of sedation.
