LYRIC MAN-CHAPTER 2
...And mobile he was. In fact, for several years this happy little duo traveled the world and had many truly amazing adventures together. You know, there are just some places on our planet too incredible to take in alone!
Kids.. let that word sink in..
Children ushered in significant change! There was without a doubt a heightened anticipation that brought energy and excitement with each birth. He had always had a special place in his heart for children, in particular kids that have been mistreated or abused, having experienced the angish of that through a best friend at school, and ultimately in his own personal family. But now, he would be having his own children. Dad.. a role he had dreamed of and longed for was becoming his true reality.
The busy writer also quickly came to the realization that all of those dreamy, romantic world ventures would now be occasional at best. The road, and all her many charms, would become his seductive mistress. He would sip in her beauty and be intoxicated with her many infatuations. But she could never truly satisfy or compare with a happy, yet somewhat chaotic, home.
The pain of absence, the unfulfilled promise of the road, became to him.. a source of amazing inspiration. All the agony in LM's "break-up" writes are real. The feelings, the longing.. it's all there and authentic. He can now be sitting in a lonely hotel room, looking out the window, watching a dreary rain. Simultaneously missing his true loves at home. And instantly and effortlessly the words and lines can flow of deep sorrows felt.. making the writer both comfortably miserable and yet quite fulfilled! A writer's melancholy is gold!
Note: This is a series of four or five writes in narrative form that gives context to the writings of Lyric Man posted on Soup. If you missed Chapter 1 please go check it out for background.
