Lurking In the Shadows
I’ve always been there, lurking in the shadows,
Waiting for the perfect time to catch you off guard.
In the quiet time, in places that no one knows,
I patiently sit nearby, hiding in the dark.
It’s not that I enjoy what I do; there’s no appeal.
So, what is it about me that everyone fears?
I wait for those of you who like to lie, cheat, and steal.
It should come as no surprise when you see me appear.
Most people get nervous when they see me around,
But there’s nothing to fear, unless you have something to hide.
Wherever there’s a crime, I can always be found,
Taking a lot of notes and watching from the side.
It’s me you feel breathing on the back of your neck,
When a carefully-made plan of yours goes awry.
What goes around come around, and when you least expect,
I’ll cash in your bad deeds on the day that you die.
