Looking Out and Looking In
I was compelled by stars
to seek light,
from chill to warmth
my tempter;
eyes seeming naturally
drawn to illumination--
though the science of magnetism
many now accept, for some
remains closer
to a mystic sense...
repelled by shadows,
the concave of light,
our sun beaming
contrary oscillation--
to protect one's eyes
sometimes better not to see;
to protect the mind
as with the nebulous soul
sometimes may be wiser
confirming by faith
when looking out
and looking in....
