We Nurses Have a Saying

the lights are on but nobody is home, the confused elderly mumble and roam, at the nursing desk they stand, their minds in another land, no shoes, no clothes, the hair could use a comb. _____________________ May 4, 2015 Poetry/Limerick/we nurses have a saying Copyright Protected, 04-669-187-04 All Rights Reserved, 2015, Constance La France "The lights are on but nobody is home" is a common idiom used to describe a person mentally vacant or lacking awareness. Touching write dear poet. I pray these souls, at the least had a wonderful life prior to their demise. It truly is hard for me to fully grasp this state of mind, hense, difficult for me to write about. You have clearly found a way to make one appreciate this state. TY Constance ! Have a wonderful week my friend...much love, james

Oh this is so sad Broken Wings - I can relate to it so much as there was a man at mum's care home trying to 'escape' - he was only in for respite for a few days - he has Alzheimer so his carers needed a break:-) good luck in the contest:-) Hugs Jan xx
