Like a Shadow
I dream of peach colored roses, my favorite kind
Only to brighten this solemn place
This sad day
Makes me think of black birds calling
At a friend’s grave
When I could not fly like them
Only weep tears onto frozen ground
A cold, cold place
Why think of this now?
Because sadness merges with memories
Memories merge with grief
That keeps a strong hold
On the soul through time
No matter how many goodbye's are said
Or how many thankyou’s when it’s too late
A black hole like the black bird remains
Accepted like a shadow you can’t escape
It always returns
Ironically when the sun shines
It follows my steps with every goodbye
Today, tomorrow, forever
