Listen to poem:
How Jeff and Nora loved to see us come in to their dance studio every Sunday afternoon. These ballroom award winners taught with a joyful enthusiasm that was contagious. To the eight of us, our family formed a complete square dance set. The youngest was so tiny but managed somehow to keep up.
How often I had imagined Nora in her ballroom gown flowing gracefully twirling across the dance floor. It was gutwrenching how Nora let herself die of a broken heart a year to the day after Jeff died unexpectedly on the operating table.
in a cloud of shock
swirling at heaven’s gate
our ballroom visions
