Life Fled As I Sought Yet Another Day, Verses Born From the Illusion of Immortality, 1977 Part One

Life Fled As I Sought Yet Another Day, ( verses born from the illusion of immortality, 1977) Part One As I went beyond that black veil, Having trod this earth and seen hell, I look back while daring to say, " Life fled as I sought yet another day." Yes, youth was fine in days of dust, Love its great bounty sought, a must, Little thought of the later pay " Life fled as I sought yet another day." World was a ride, its glory great, Of its sweetest pleasures I ate, I that went about my own way, " Life fled as I sought yet another day." I a warrior born by birth, A child of heart, a child of earth, A lone vagabond as they say " Life fled as I sought yet another day." A true joy, my shadow and I, Wanderer beneath heavenly sky, Hellbent to do just as I may, " Life fled as I sought yet another day." O' sweet future lay at my feet, As I sought coming death to cheat, Fate cried, " No more can you stay" " Life fled as I sought yet another day." As I went beyond that black veil, Having trod this earth and seen hell, I look back while daring to say, " Life fled as I sought yet another day." Robert J. Lindley, March 5th, 1977 Rhyme, ( To live, love and dream, a life ) Presented 1-13-2021 Note: deleted

Robert, This poem from '77 captures life & times in fine detail. They say the devil is in the details. 'A true joy, my shadow and I, Wanderer beneath heavenly sky,' ~~ 'O' sweet future lay at my feet, As I sought coming death to cheat,' Your poem carries a sword, and a pen, and a heart. -Richard

Thank you my friend. My friend, I have not exposed even a tenth of one percent of it in my poems. I must have had a guardian angel. Now I look back a see I lived through some crazy, scary and very wild times! God bless..

Thank you my friend. I tempted fate a few hundreds times its seems to me. I am truly very lucky to be alive. Youth is oft reckless and even blind to dangers. I lived through some scary dark times and did finally manage to stop my long streak of attempting to cheat death.. God bless..

Brilliant verse Robert, from the day we're born life flees from us, we have to live every second we're here, there is no second chance. I hope you and your family are well. Tom

Thank you my friend. So true , I in those days certainly felt ten feet tall and bulletproof. This dark world taught me many times that I was neither. God bless....

Thank you my friend. I have been about a bit. Certainly lived a wild young life and endured much. Wrote a lot of ancient poems about it all. I guess as therapy for the dark times that always seem to come. God bless..

“Life fled as I sought yet another day”- what a fantastic theme. I am glad you named it the perfect title. This is what stood out to me.

Thank you my friend. I did a lot of soul-searching in my youth. Seems in my lucid times I knew my wild ways were not a true path. Yet youth cries for excitement and the allure of beautiful women were( and always are) exciting. God bless...
