Life After You
Why did you leave me?
I can’t figure it out.
I thought we were meant to be.
Now my life is turned inside out.
You were the love of my life,
And I thought I was yours.
I loved being your wife,
Whether we were rich or poor.
I will love you forever,
Although my friends say I’m wrong.
Not even my own mother
Wants me to keep playing your song.
I don’t want to erase
The life we had together,
But I can’t stay in this place
Where my heart will get smothered.
It’s so hard to move one,
But I know that I must.
Although you may be gone,
In your memory I’ll trust.
It’s been over a year
Since you left me all alone.
I’m done shedding any tears.
I know now I’m on my own.
I have to start a new life
And allow my heart to grow.
Soon, I’ll again be a wife
To a man you used to know.
He was your best friend,
So, I know that you’d approve.
Your blessing I hope you’ll send,
So, forward, our hearts can move.
Well, my love, I must go now
To give my new life a try.
I guess others show us how
To live after our loved ones die.
