Pound it ...
Drive the word through my thrumming
All my romantic efforts
The best of my swoon-worthy attempts
Have already wept my veins
And lay puddled at your pretty feet
Painted fuchsia toes mocking
There is naught left me but a final gasp
Tears are for paupers and poets
I ... am neither.
