Oh, how I have dreamed of you,
Sultry mistress to the sun's ire,
Dappled and coy amid the palms.
Your eyes of the evening sky
Shimmering with the Milky Way,
Luna, red as rouge on your cheek,
Dune drifts: your wavy golden tresses.
A flawless gem, sparkling in the sand,
Cut and polished with care and perfection
To sunder the sunlight into rainbows ...
To focus the best energies and ingenuity,
And seed a rare oasis bloom, exquisite.
Oh jumeirah, jadhab and mutheer ...
Soon and sure, we shall woo each other,
You, Princess of the Arabian Desert,
Me, The Fool for your fevered wiles.
Oh, how you've tempted me, afar,
Your lush and lavish loins of excess,
Arms of extravagance beckoning,
Decadent, seductive voice whispering,
A warm and endless summer night.
Take good care this, my aged heart,
The soft echos of its drumming
Have yet returned from the firmament,
Its final pulses not now abounding ...
But the rhythm it hereafter composes,
Is gladly sacrificed for your adoration,
Offered up on the dry desert winds
To the celebration song of YOU,
My tawny, torrid temptress ...
DUBAI.
