The fire flickers softly
At its flames I sit and gaze
I know you’re coming to me
And I’m counting down the days

My eyes move to the window
Where I see the falling snow
You’ll come to me in summer
But this winter moves too slow

The moon lights up the landscape
The snow sparkles in its light
I know I must be patient
But I yearn for you tonight

I long to see the firelight
Play softly on your face
I long to feel the comfort
I will find in your embrace

A long slow sigh escapes me
I feel lost when not with you
A tear falls as I wonder
If you’re thinking of me too

Outside the snow stops falling
But I know there will be more
It feels like an eternity
Till spring will bring a thaw

But after spring comes summer
I’ll wait, as I’ve learned to do
Till then I’ll watch the fire
And dream longingly of you
