Joys of Motherhood
Down from lofty hills
To the foot of vales and dales,
Grey to greens of hope,
And sure despite slope
Rushing to the vast ocean,
O Rivers ye run,
And if I wonder
Why, ye need never ponder
To say, ‘giving gives great frill’,
If I still wonder
Why ye need to meander
To meet the ocean,
Ye need never brood
Ere saying, it’s motherhood,
Joys of motherhood!

Ode |21.06.2021|
Poet’s note: Perhaps it is the motherhood hidden in rivers. And having done all they could, they merge with oceans to get born again— clouds, rain, small streams and to motherhood again. This Ode singing the joys of Motherhood is set in stanzas, each a Haiku.
