Well, this was inspired by BW's contest because the muse cannot fully read the directions before composing the poem....Thus, I thank BW for the wonderful theme and will have a talk with the muse.

I lay here in the mists of life silenced – entombed in a numbness bids me “struggle not – it is over” They pass – stark faced - ‘viewers’ shedding tears – or stifling mock angst amid the scent of death’s flowers. Alone, surrounded by the love of longing I shun a glaring light – deny its call cling to the hope of one more breath one more kiss, one more touch, ache for the feeling of anything listen to the drone of distant dreams. I lay here – fading - in the mists of life. ©5/16/2018 submitted to – May 2018 Premiere Contest sponsor – Brian Strand
