In the Land of Memory

The bright flame, extinguished before it was time Getting summons from above, Connie departed, To a land silent and blissful to join her folks. Though it was an unexpected call, she didn’t tarry. Relinquishing all earthly pursuits, she gracefully bowed. What drew me close to her was her attitude and wisdom Was mature enough to forgo and forget what was gone Appreciate and be joyful in what yet remained And willing to brace for what was to come! Those last four lines are truly memorable, Valse. As well, they truly summon up who Connie was and what she was all about. It takes a gracious woman to recognize another one, I believe. Hats off to both of you, Gershon

Initially when I joined poetry soup, I hardly knew anyone and that's quite natural. Later through poems and comments, I have learnt so much about my fellow poets. Knowing more details about the sad experiences of Connie and relating her poems that breathed in a lot positive vibes, I felt deep appreciation for her. Another great one I respect here perhaps a little more is Constance. She has withstood all tragedies of her life that came one after another. With a vehemence she has defeated fate and continues to be at the top of poet's rank scroll. Thank you so much Gershon for the nice compliment you have given me. In recognizing another woman who truly has merit, I haven't felt any jealousy so far, be it my colleagues or students or equals

It is a sad life for any mother whose child dies first, and husband, yet Connie continued to encourage others. Well said, Valsa! Aloha!

She will live on in our memories forever. The very fact that she visited both my page and soup was motivating and encouraging. You penned a moving eulogy for the deceased.
