In Dawn's Bright Glow

The sweet notes of a bird drift down to me from one grand oak that shines with day’s first rays. I look up at blue sky and that old tree. What joy, for at a glad lark I now gaze! The lark sings on. Her song fills up my heart. I turn to see a deer whose head is bent to drink at a cool stream; the view is art. . . Sun’s beams, the deer and lark from God were sent to cheer me at this time. My eyes are drawn to fields far off and near them - hills that gleam in that gold stream of light, the blaze of dawn! My thoughts now waft as if they were a dream. This day of bliss I wish to keep - and so - I sit to write of it in dawn’s bright glow. For the CONTEST NO 204 any form-theme max of 16 lines Poetry Contest of Brian Strand

What a sweet sonnet of nature. Lark, trees, deer, and sunrise are all treasures to enjoy and write down at first opportunity. Gorgeous. You seem to have a endless river of ways to describe nature! Thanks for pointing this one out to me. P.S. I hate to criticize the Queen of Sonnets, but I'm glad you don't do the double spacing any more on your sonnets, it doesn't sit well with me for some reason.

Only a woman could write so prettily, so appealingly. The Queen of Sonnets strikes again. - Red

Congrats Andrea. You should know that it was 80 degrees here today and last nights low was 59. Wild weather in Texas. You may remember my "Golden Meadow Smile" from February 2010 when it was quite the opposite. Anyway, enjoyed the read. RAY
