Quintain/English
An English Quintain poem has (five-line stanzas with a rhyming pattern of a,b,a,b,b ), there is no specific meter or length of the line.
Sunbeams dance atop deciduous trees
inking leaves with ribbons of molten gold.
And like confetti falling with each breeze
leaves cover the ground as the nights grow cold,
forming crunchy mosaics to behold.
In rivulets of scarlet and cerise
an ocean of color floods the landscape.
And as gilded leaves weave a golden fleece,
yellows get added to the ticker tape
and Autumn's parade begins to take shape.
Autumn's crimson fire burns with orange flames
incinerating all traces of green.
And living up to the hype Autumn claims,
chartreuse, puce, and crimson color the scene;
the air smells earthy, gingery, and clean.
As Nature senses Winter's arrival,
songbirds fly south, and squirrels hide their stash.
While bears hibernate for their survival
amongst sugar maples and mountain ash,
where vermillion and amber motifs clash.
