I dedicate this poem to all my brothers and sisters who are experiencing horrific pain. My heart is with you. I pray for you everyday and I love you unconditionally. Always, armand.

December 26 I am adding this note:

I am a positive person, I believe it is my love of life, it's sheer joy, how I love the people that are in any way in my life...it is my exuberance for life that creates my fear for my child that is presently walking a tightrope without a net.

This dark write comes from the fear that I live every moment of my present life. I love my daughters deeper than the word it self could ever represent. Thank You.

Listen to poem:
an impression of the world stands before me Left is right, and right is wrong, and the mirror reflects a melancholy song. i the mirror not the babbling brook, or the rippled river whose images tell harmless lies. i the mirror, who was once held in the weak, shivering, hands of a life nearing its end now lay on broken, crushed bones, crumbs and i one thousand shards the cracks the jaded moments of my life. i an unintended semblance in the raging waters crashing against the killing rocks of the rushing falls. never utter the curse "it can't get any worse" the serpent swallows the swollen cow, swallowed - the farmer's wife, swallowed - her son, swallowed - the thorny toad, the black widow spider devours them all! i the empty frame the bits and bites of carpenter ants. my world a perverse facade of what should of been of what is of what was or of what? WHAT? less? i guess. NEVER utter the curse "it can't get any worse" whose voice will bring me peace, whose rapier will deliver me, who will burn my body whole or dig me a deep hole or throw me void of soul into the waters of the screaming ocean who herself dies a slow painful death. Powerful, compelling thoughts and images in your words, Armand. You had me at verse 1, and did not let go till the end. The ones about the serpent and the curse made me read again...disturbing, interesting in a way that makes this reader think deeper. A 7 and fav. hugs!

"I the mirror" is a position we should all take, especially for the coming year, and look at life, from all perspectives, that is, left and right. Congrats on being chosen Poem Of The Week. Hope to read more like this soul-searching one. Best wishes, RP.

Based on this being chosen for POTW it appears I was perceptive rather than kind. Well done my friend.

You are one of the poets I most appreciate, you dig beneath life's veneer and describe what some see as the worst life has to offer in a beautiful way. Each person is destined in one way or another to suffer yet how we deal with that suffering profoundly changes the way we see our world. You see the world with perceptive and gentle eyes. Merry Christmas my friend.

Maurice, mon ami, it seems age brings knowledge of the world and the knowledge of the world brings knowledge of you who in turn re-examines the world finding it not to his liking. The world however was the same before you knew and after you have learned. So, mon ami, which image of the world will you keep if you cannot change things? Profound writing lost in a deep ocean of understanding! A seven!
