Camping I’d gone, but not with a smile. I had gone with a scowl! I’d rather a room, hot water, soap, and a nice folded towel. Trying to sleep on hard ground, I then heard a horrible howl. I shouldn’t have looked, but I feared what might have been on the prowl; Was it all in my mind? Somewhere near did I not hear a growl? I peeked from the tent, expecting to see a creature most foul. Yes, FOWL indeed! Staring at me was a great big golden-eyed owl! June 6, 2017 For the Contest of Mystic Rose

One of the few nocturnal birds. You have described it well in this short and sweet write.

Ha ha! What a cute revelation, and glad that is all that it was! I am a born and raised camper, and have always loved it. However we have had a few bears in our camp wander through. However they aren't nearly as scary as a few humans we have encountered along the way !! (truly !!!)

Love the write. I haven't been camping on the ground for many years. I was just reading your comment on my " Angel's Hope poem. I made 90% up. The book was like 6-8 main characters & all intertwined with one another :)

Great monorhyme Andrea. And it made me smile a little too, our silly fears sometimes :)

A great monorhyme Andrea! I used to camp with my ex. I can handle a camper or even a cot outside, but never a sleeping bag on the ground where critters can climb on me in the night! I enjoyed your tale. : )

I think one time we slept without a tent. Mostly we camped on a beach at the lake when we had our boat. Thankfully the last time I camped in a forest was in my girl scout days!!

Good thing you decided to look, Andrea, otherwise you'd have spent the night in frightful expectation!! A pleasant and entertaining Monorhyme. Regards // paul

Somehow you don't strike me as a camping person, then again an owl to me is something I do when I drop a hammer on my toe...fun write Andrea, good luck

you are right. I would only enjoy it with my sisters around and not just the old grump with me! While roasting hot dogs and eating s'mores and telling ghost stories!
