I Never Said My Life Was Perfect

I never said my life was perfect
to do so would be a lie.
I have had shattered dreams
and I have fallen many, many times.
My mother was the source
of my inspiration and Maya too,
they taught me to never
give up on my dreams.
An impoverished girl with big
dreams and big faith.
Although I fall at times, yet I rise.
I rise above my imperfections.
I rise above the difficulties of
whatever life throws my way.
My life may not be perfect but
my life has been my class in which
it is filled with lessons to learn.
