I Didn'T Hear You Leave
I didn't hear you leave.
Where have you gone to?
No door slam, no angry words,
just a midnight flee to freedom.
I didn't hear you leave.
Did you tell me you were going?
Did I miss it in the mayhem
of life's confusion?
You were with me on the same
path - where did it split?
Was I so preoccupied I didn't
notice you take a different route?
You're gone now.
Silence and emptiness
resound in the room.
Empty coat hangers of finality
clatter in the void of
what was, then, before
we separated, whenever it was
the separation began.
I didn't hear you leave.
You went so quietly.
No forwarding address,
just emptiness -
Where did you go?
