I Crossed the Bridge To What Will Be

I've always known I belong in two worlds, one that is real, the other make-believe. It began when as a child, I read a book In it's mysterious chapters I could perceive the possibility of this fantasy coming true. With my book in hand, I read the words, the magic chant that would take me there but where that would be, I was not sure. The time had come, at last, for me to leave and cross the bridge that leads to what will be.

Great poem, with lovely imagination transporting us to childhood innocence and beauty. Tell us after you get there what you see!

If I can make it back, or want to return, I will. Thanks, Krish.

I am working on a painting of a fairy, an owl, an elf, and a cat, all sitting on turtles or hanging out of trees, reading books. This poem told me we feel the same way about them. I love them too!

Paint away, Caren. What ever you can imagine well enough to paint is reality at some point to you. Thanks for the visit and your thoughts.

Really great how you dramatized this one so well, and 'undersold' it with relatively few lines --- resulting in a 'Sale You Nailed!' Great penning, Jenna! :) gw

Fantasies are free, They exercise the mind and grants many of the heart's desires. Thank you, Mark. I don't think I'll be entering any more of Brian Strand's contests. Despite several HMs, and a 1st place or 2, I just don't understand giving several first place awards, and then only HMs. I may missing something, but I'm moving on.

I like this melding of fantasy with reality. I would always get lost in my books. Reality is just as weird sometimes. In the romance department, I think life does not measure up to books. haha. VEry nice.

I could read anything between the covers of a book. Thanks for reading me, Andrea.

When I read this it reminded me of this line from Harry Potter. "Is this real? Or has this been happening inside my head?" "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?” Very nicely written. A winner with me.

Hi Kenneth, I really appreciate your detailed thoughts and reference to Harry Potter. What could seem more real than a dream? It could come true. Thank you so much for visiting my poetry.

Thank you so much, Anne-Lise, and I agree. If we dare to dream we can do many things.

I agree with John, many of us live in two worlds. For me at times, the lines between where the real world ends and the make believe world begins are blurred. Best of luck in the contest my friend. Hugs, John

Hi John, Thanks, and it's nice to see again. I'd been missing your kind words. We are only limited by the depth of imagination.

Oh Jenna, I love this! So many of us live in the two worlds you describe; so many of us came from the world of books and that is what inspires us to want to write. To tap into that magic of what scintillated us in the other world and bring it across the bridge into the world where we can share it with people. Best wishes in the contest!
