For my father, Arthur (Arturo) - he was 93. This was one of his favourite hymns. Rest in peace Art!
H-e left this world as he entered - helpless -
O-n the edge of darkness gasping for air
W-hile I soundly slept unmolested in my bed
G-ot the call in the dark dead of night
R-easoning to myself it was a relief,
E-xcept reason rules the head - not the heart
A-nd I was sorrowed he had passed,
T-hat in his final moments he was alone
T-his song of praise, this burial hymn,
H-eralds the end of decrepitude and pain -
O-ctober came and went, and you were gone
U-nder a grey and misty ambient sky
A-nd so you have earned your peaceful rest
R-eunited with Jackie - your one true love,
T-o sleep in the hope of the resurrection
