Home Again
From the top of a hill
he felt the thrill
of finally seeing his valley once more,
with vermilion tile roofs dotted below,
where luscious fruit trees grow.
As the seductive sweet scent of Frangipani infused the air,
his heart beat a little faster there.
Finally he was back to his ancestral home,
never more to roam.
Home, near a pellucid stream,
of sparkling ripples
remembered in a twilight dream.
He saw his menagerie of pets in his reverie: a monkey,
a parrot, a dog, a cat, a bright yellow canary.
Soon his Mama would open her arms
as the mockingbird in the tree by the door
would announce his arrival once more.
