Happy Normaldays To You, My Friend

Normal days are better than holy days, I believe. On normal days there is no expectation for the gifts you receive Like people smiling at you, giving a compliment, or any small treat. There are no presents to be exchanged And being alone isn’t strange. There are no markers of milestones you haven’t reached Nor markers of memories you don’t wish to keep. There’s little sentimentality being flaunted about Just small celebrations of common accomplishments for which we’re nonetheless proud. As we should be. There’s less worry that we aren’t doing enough to gather tokens of appreciation for family and friends when we don’t have extra money No kids embarrassed about their lame handmade Valentine’s Day cards, so just signing, “From me.” We’re going about in the best way we can, No need for a festive display of devoutness so carefully planned. And silence from friends and family doesn’t mean you aren’t valued They are simply busy, but maybe from time to time thinking of you. And if they don’t, you don’t have to know For your empty mailbox is today nothing but an absence of bills to pay. Don’t worry about having a happy holiday on the next holiday ahead Go ahead, instead, and have a happy normalday, my friend!

I'm all for happy normal days as the other days are taken over by commercialisation and their true meaning is lost. It's mother's day here - my son may send me a card if he remembers but I'd rather have a phone call or message from him than him waste money on cards and expensive commercial 'tat' that fills the shop shelves. hugs jan xx

I'll keep that in mind when it is Mothers' Day here. I've never been one for buying tat or chatkes - whatever they are called. They just end up in the trash in the end. I'll pay her a visit instead.

Thanks! My family is German/Lutheran, and if not for Christmas, the whole religion wouldn't even exist. I've learned that Germans and Lutherans frickin' love Christmas. Christmas starts about three months before, and lately I've quit doing so much as putting up a tree. I have a trashy, low-class palm tree lit up on my back patio all year, and that's good enough as far as I'm concerned!

Those days are surely the best Amy, you can just be yourself and have to account to no one.
