Grook In Head

It is late winter here Trees have lost their leaves Except a few yellows All are yellow birds The tree is a little blurred What it has hit Is the love circuit Dopamine rains In the brain Birds are mine I have found my valentine ----------------------------- February 13, 2016

Perhaps I am mistaken. It is probably true that "grook" is compromised of those two Danish words (though it is interesting that it's inventor said he pulled it from thin air). In either case your entry was definitely unique, and you're a good writer. Maybe this grook was more abstract then what I was used too, but once you explained it, it made more sense to me. I'll be seeing you around the soup ... and thanks again for sending it in :)

A grooky thing ! Thank you. From happy wings. Here in Kolkata it is cool spring. More birds sing.

Thanks for the kind placement. I had an understanding, may be not right, that grook comprised GRin and sUK, I.e. laugh and sigh in Danish, from an aphoristic mental improvisation expressing certain curious aspects of irony/Paradox/some basic truth, often a blend of science and arts. My title Grook in Head is itself indicative, amplified further by the mention of conversion of a few yellow winter leaves into a large number of yellow birds, symbol of pleasure, not necessarily real birds from nature, because of the chemistry of love-circuit stimulating hormone dopamine in the brain. Of course I'll check out as advised.

Hello Probir. Thanks for your participation in this contest. I enjoyed this poem, however the grook poetry format is a bit complex when it comes to content. It typically involves irony or something that makes you say, "Aha! I get!" ... I like the idea of you finding nature as your valentine, but I was unsure if you could call it a grook poem. Hope this helps! One of my favorite poets is Piet Hein, so if you want to get a flavor of what they sound like, check him out. In any case keep on writing!

Hello Timothy, Thanks. And sorry too because what I wanted to send as a reply to your valued comment above got composed in the comment column. May be a cunning play of the Freudian I'd. Thanks again for the feedback.
