Goodbye Letters

I live in BC
Where the young are dying
Words fail me
For the ones left crying

A volunteer to write letters
For those who are still here
It is to make them feel better
To say goodbye to those they hold dear

They have no choice
Playing Russian roulette
They're the ones with no voice
Where fate is worse than death

No one seems to have an answer
They're dying against their will
How can we stop this cancer
The epidemic
Of Fentanyl

Dear Tanis, your powerful poem speaks to a real and dangerous drug. I was given Fentanyl in the hospital for pain and it almost shut down my heart, fortunately help was at hand. Doctors who prescribe it for personal use at home, or dealers who sell it on the black market, should be made to answer for their actions . As a nurse, I know you have seen too much of what an overdose and death can do to the family and friends who must say goodbye. Very poignant poem my friend. Betty

Pathetic goodbye letters vividly depicted ... is this human life ... very tragic ... darkens the whole mental sky ... how puppet like helpless we are ...
