Good-Bye
In the place where you once stood,
a shadow still remains.
Instead of you mixed in my blood,
that darkness fills my veins.
Aware of every heartbeat,
that pumps you to my thought,
I push away your memory,
and pretend that I forgot.
I won't let myself give in.
I won't let myself forgive,
You needed to let me go,
something I'd rather not relive.
I smile to myself,
thinking of friendship once so grand,
And the way that everything would mend,
Because you could understand.
But now it's done and over with,
Your shadow's what you leave,
I force myself to look ahead,
To smile, to not grieve.
But remember, if you're reading this,
To smile to yourself, too.
Because in my heart there's still that spot,
the one that's left for you.
