Getting Over

I left a tear on my pillow One lonely tear on my pillow The morning you left me That cold day in hell Now all that I’m feeling Is pretty much nothing And the tear is now bigger It can fill up this well That hole that I call a well A vague recollection I gave some misdirection Which prompted your leaving Leaving me in this pain Now all that I’m left with Is an empty impression Of your body in bed here And I need you again To pull me from this hell Your love… You took it and went away Your love… Too hard to get over it Your love… Was it real or just pretend Your love… I don’t care, I no longer need Your love… The room is now darker Though the window’s wide open As the sun yet shines in It leaves me no view And this tear on my pillow Has grown to an ocean With waves that are crushing Because of just you My heart, it cries for you So now, with my face in this pillow My tears they can’t fall My cries, they are silenced To nothing at all I hope this will end soon The pain and heartache And I can then move on As my life is at stake Because, I must get over… Your love… You took it and went away Your love… Too hard to get over it Your love… Was it real or just pretend Your love… I don’t care, I no longer need Your love…

I like how you portrayed that there is not always 1 defining moment that ruins a relationship ("vague recollection"). I also like the image of the empty impression and then in the next verse how the tears seem to fill that impression, and then in the next verse how it's empty again.

Michael I really enjoyed this lyrical write on a lost love.. How sad that we tend to struggle to move on and the questions remain was it real love or pretend? Your piece captured that emotions brilliantly ;) Wilma
