Get That Over Dog
We cheer the underdog because he is us and we are he
We want him to win because he is us and we are he
We want him to prevail because he is us and we are he
Called names, belittled, put down, tossed down.
Yes. Yes. Yes.Yes.Yes.
I never knew they say
But why would they? They were too busy lying in ditches
Where they were also tossed. Not realizing how many were.
Life can be cruel; a circus of meanness.
And it is – especially when you meet the unkind
They are everywhere, but especially in grade schools.
By the time you realize it is them, not you, it may be too late
You may already be passing mirrors
Using their reflections of you to judge yourself
I am ugly. I am a loser. I am stupid. I am different.
Ah, let’s start from there.
You are different. You are unique. You are one-of-a-kind.
You are an overdog, you are a winner. You are a believer.
You are honest, kind, fair, and you are cheering for underdogs.
You have never been one and you never will be.
Got that OverDog? Got that?
