From a Good Heart Comes Forgiveness In Life
Dear Dad, I want you to know that my life has been good,
Even though, for most of it, we’ve been apart.
We have few regrets, some that no one ever should,
But, in the end, we both have a really good heart.
I know there are things that we’ve done or said in the past
That make it hard to move forward as father and son.
I’ve looked beyond those years and my grudges didn’t last.
Can you forgive me for the things that I’ve done?
Family is family, and you’ll always be my Dad.
With that in mind, remember I will always be your son.
I want to get back to the good times we’ve had.
Life shouldn’t be bitter, but rather, filled with fun.
Although I was young when you first left my life,
I had always assumed that it was for the better.
As I get older and spend time with my wife,
I realize that family should always stay together.
For whatever reasons, which are your very own
You chose to re-enter my life at a very late stage.
I forgave you for the past, for reasons of my own.
I’m asking you to do the same for me and turn the page.
Let’s start a new chapter before it becomes too late.
Let’s get back what we had for those fifteen years.
Let’s have no more regrets before we reach Heaven’s Gate.
Let’s not waste any more time while we’re both still here.
