From 2020 On To 2021

all eyes are set on a distant dream, June’s bright sunshine and melting ice cream, clouds of the past have thundered and gone, in new year’s fresh breeze, world is reborn! the birds twitter with a new found zeal, clear cheer everywhere that one can feel, neighbours knock on the door for a chat, no mention of any horrid bat! our Chinese neighbour coughed at my door, smiling said “do you want anymore?” jokes are back and I gave him a hug, poured down his trousers ice from a jug! old granny danced from her wheelchair, had her vaccine, family that care, children noisy in game of football, lessons taught as before in school hall! walks in the park, work, sweat in the gym, life given a boost, no longer grim, may recall 2020 past, many years from now, but at present , let’s give it a shove! Let twenty one be the year of hope, no longer we on slippery slope, National flags fly with new vigour, minds are wiser and our hearts bigger! 2nd placement 2020 to 2021 contest sponsor Mohan Chutani Written 31/12/2020 9 syllables each line, 6 quatrains rhyme checked in rhyme zone

Melting ice-cream and old granny dancing in wheel chair my favourite lines. A very positive poem. Am sure it would soon come true.
