Fragments of Hope

Precious memories of youth
are buried deep in your mind.
And become treasures of truth
God has left for you to find.
Time ticks fast for aging hearts
pondering on things undone.
For suddenly, old age starts
and the dying; has begun.
Despair flows amidst sad tears,
stripping everything of joy.
Abandoned to face your fears,
you feel like yesterday's toy.
Rejecting eternal peace,
you cling to fragments of hope.
And your soul delays release,
although you struggle to cope.
Forced to acquiesce to death,
you prepare yourself to die.
And drawing your final breath,
you expel a silent sigh.
