(a Robert Browning tribute)

seas gleaming
   with
       bright delight
streams crowned
    with
       golden hours
a carnival
         of the comforted
of those
sighing
      of everyone
               who
                 sleeps

a quest of space
for
   the tender&
                 alone
a growing call
for shade
          a place
for
   the
      broken
to cease
to shiver
         unafraid
to embrace
the
  radiance of Spring

the dew of the earth
a gleam
    of sky
dust
   flung high
in
denied delight
                 so dim
where
the steadfast
          cling &
unpoken words
   come to pass

the lonely
            sleep
dwell
as forgotten
in
   the clamour
     for the exquisite
a voice
a shiver
    surely
      an embrace
to coat
the shame

the soul
    in solitude
desolate
cold
     suddenly
     outside
knowing
the way to strength
to blossom &
surely
    to flame
         again

woken with laughter
heard
       time flies
       cold
          has gone
the watch
    is over...
felicity remains

sounds cease
     somehow
the foolish
       eclipsed
    in praise
       nearby
         for hours
miss
the mood

so sweet
     the blessed sound
aware
   of the doorway
to revel
  in the voice
& call
      of the skies
to
   this
      earth
