Evening Quarters- Music To My Ears

Evening Quarters And far away across the fields the tolling of the iron bell calls the faithful to their knees to hear the softly spoken magic spell. Sounding out to loneliness soothing whispers to bereaved. Grace confirmed by carillon they live on, who believed. As night call changes herald summer, echoes summon hope the pious soul ascending with each pull upon the rope. Forged in fire, tuned by blade twelve sisters harmonise bearing witness through the centuries for those we've lost will rise. 'Breathe- reprise' by Pink Floyd For contest 'music to my ears', sponsored by Silent one.

My son Evan is the Pink Floyd fan in our family... the more I think about it, the more I realize he is probably right. DSOTM must be revisited and other albums appreciated. Gilmour is a guitar genius. Keith

Indeedy, Keith. Not the fastest guitarist on the planet, but he himself says that he tires easily. 'Less is more'. Regards, Viv

Thanks Andrea,, difficult to choose a standout lyric from Pink Floyd, it was a toss-up over this one or going dark with 'sweet smell of a great sorrow lies over the land, plumes of smoke rise, merge into a leaden sky, man lies in dreams of green fields and rivers, wakes to a morning with no reason for waking' from 'Sorrow', which I think is immensley powerful. A great contest theme, anyway. Viv x
