Equality In the End-
taking a step away
from the noise and commotion
with uneasy thoughts
following the nameless emotion
tilting back and forth
and side to side
while flower holding
hands push you in the divide
and you suddenly
find yourself laying alone
soon realizing
that you’re not quite at home
the next step away
allows for more apprehension
but you thought
all this would release the tension
that comes with
leaving the familiar door
and wondering
around the sinking floor
that drops you
into a mysterious unknown
soon realizing
that you’re not quite at home
the final step away
halts your timeless clock
and the world stops turning
like a key in a lock
as light begins
to fade into a shadow dark
with a soundless sigh
as your farewell remark
buried beneath
your name on the gray stone
soon realizing
that you’re not quite at home
