Dusty Heart
Since the day he took leave of the earthly plane,
my heart has been gathering dust.
Now it is only the memories that remain;
standing beside his precious sea, they’re carried on a gust
as I fall to my knees, devoid of love and trust.
When you’ve had the best,
what can compare?
Sharing just four years of marriage, we were truly blessed.
In my dreams I can still see him standing there;
to withstand such a loss, leads only to despair.
Handsome, brilliant and kind,
he was taken from our nest too soon.
Let the dust gather for I’ll never find
another who’ll make me swoon
as I first did on the beach with John that magic night in June.
