Dream Birds Will Return
My desiccated dreams rose from mirage,
the miniature frame of volatile mind couldn’t hold,
and in desert wind they grew wings of soaring desire,
turned into twilight tinged birds fluttering in the ardent air.
Through the arc of resplendent rainbow
they sailed to the horizon where the sunset hues drizzled
from the carved canvas of the color suffused mural sky.
They flew en echelon on the cotton canopy of cloud,
I tried to decipher the meaning of patterns,
some I could, many I couldn’t.
My dreams drifted, disappeared beyond the edge of winter gloom,
I now wander forlorn in the middle of frozen nowhere,
trudging emotion dregs on time’s trail,
awaiting spring when the dream birds will return.
