Destiny
I can’t believe they didn’t find me,
those squirrels that were right behind me.
I know they grabbed up all the rest.
I’m special and I have been blessed.
New lease on life brings such elation,
I’m filled with noble expectations.
I’ll be a source of style and grace
to bring enhancement to this place.
I symbolize strength and potential.
My seed is small but consequential.
My child could live a thousand years*
and generate a throng of peers.
My offspring is a boon to nature.
Books tell you of its nomenclature.
Don’t underestimate my role
in life on Earth; I am its soul.
Those squirrels did the world a favor;
they left one whose resolve won’t waver!
I want the entire world to know
“Great oaks from little acorns grow.”**
