Define Me By My Love
For I am not defined by the wealth I have not.
Treasures of gold mean not one thing to me-
There are many a thing that determine who
I am and who I have always longed to become.
I’ve been judged too long for what I am
not, may I start to be looked at with respect
for who I genuinely am.
My life is not outlined by the words I mean
to say but don’t-
For I am but a woman longing to be whole
because of the kindness I bestow with ease.
I have been seen as one who stays quiet
when noise should be heard-
keep in mind I am just humble and shy.
May my self-worth not be determined
by mistakes made without intent,
but may I be defined by the forgiveness
I long to receive.
Atone me as I sit in modest humility.
May I not be defined by anything but my love.
