Dear Christopher, Love Me
I still remember the day that we met
A new spark of friendship, it was like Russian roulette
We stayed in the car, all night to come.
Could hear our hearts beating, like the sound of a drum.
It was a whispered conversation, for just you and me
You were the lock and I was your key
Oh baby I thought we had something that could last
Took a wrong turn and then we burned out too fast
All I need you to know is how much I loved you so
This love sparked all those years ago
I want you to know that I understand it was your time to fly
So now I apologize I never got to say goodbye
It’s engraved in my mind, the day that we started
Told me not to worry, then left me broken-hearted
Cause I do remember the nights we spent hiding
Under a fort of blankets, our two worlds colliding.
And you’d take my hand, a promise it’d be alright
Darling it’s like hell, not to give up tonight.
I still see the flashbacks of your head tilted back, another round of laughter about our old past.
Oh baby this was something always meant to be
Now you’ve carried on and moved somewhere without me.
I wake up again, it was another day alone
Remember the words you used to say, “everything’s better off unknown.”
Please God take me back, oh bring me back
To help save this boy from the horrible attack.
Oh cause I need you to know is how much I loved you so
We began this love all those years ago
I understand it was your time to fly
So now I apologize I never got to say goodbye
So, Christopher, this is goodbye.
