Dad Turns Eighty

DAD TURNS EIGHTY Two banners wave One reads “8” One reads “0” Though he’s still 79 Which makes him smile And drink His martini He slurps his jello shot The first time the word “thirty” Slips And you go on And turn fabulous Forty Embrace “fifty” Why not? Then sixty, then seventy Now things are surreal, a little Scary But “eighty” How does that happen?! Well, You merely, Have to live long enough You can set your house on fire With that many candles Even the “wolf” Becomes tired huffing and puffing That many candles out But my dad makes eighty look good So we hang on For the wild ride Hug him and mom And gratitude and love Warm our minds 9/10/2017

After a certain age you just have to give your longevity up to God, forget about it and make hay while the sun shines.

Lovely sentimental tribute to Dad--your Dad no doubt feels proud--well done Kim!
