Crucifixion Road
Standing at the intersection of
Sodom and Egypt
On the Crucifixion Road,
heading towards New Jerusalem
This wilderness weary traveler
looked up at the Son hanging in the sky
And I put my hands over my eyes,
and cried
Sighing: Lord, I die ... which way does oasis rest lie?
Had two bad signs pointing left and right:
Sodom so carelessly wanton,
Egypt so calculated cruel
Gomorrah pleasure receives masochistic pain,
Pharaoh pain delivers sadistic pleasure
Bad weather report either way:
dark clouds are bringing brimstone hail rain
And my cross is famine sin heavy,
this tired soul is very parched
Then a heavenly Voice thunder uttered:
Child, continue along the path you’re on
Go forward, not backwards ...
neither go to the left or right —
I will make your burdens lighter
And the cross that you’re carrying,
no longer will be borne by you
I will carry the transgression load from here
to the end of your life’s journey
Faith and hope
is all the food and water you need
Here: Drink deep of Me,
feed upon the gospel body of My goodness freely
So I thankfully travel on,
til I reach the blessed Messiah Salvation Inn
at the pearly entrance gates of New Jerusalem
