Years ago, I rented a house,
that had the occasional mouse.
Two doors down lived an old lady,
and she seemed just a little bit crazy
For one thing, she had tons of cats,
bet she never had mice or even rats . . .
And I needed a cat 'cause of mice,
so, I knocked on her door twice.
All I could hear was meow,
and a voice saying, "oh stop that now!"
The door slowly creaked open wide,
and there was Mrs. Butt's backside.
And beyond were cats everywhere,
cats on each table and each chair.
"Mrs. Butt, could you spare a cat?"
"NO," she said, giving one a pat.
I stepped inside but I had to stand,
and I was now in a cat land.
"You see dear, each one is my friend . . .
and we became friends too, in the end.
