Conversation Between Father, Daughter About Mother's Death
HOW DEEP IS YOUR TRUST?
What's it like to die? asked the child
looking into her father's eyes.
He held her hand tightly,
and walked away from his wife's grave
bringing the child with him.
Death is the same thing as life, he replied.
Death is a struggle and a letting go.
He brought the child close to him for a moment
and held her.
At first, she was silent.
Then she spoke.
You mean death is like falling
out of my tree house and landing in the hay
without pain?
I don't know how it feels to die,
but I know its outcome, he said.
In the end, you have to surrender everything you have and are.
I know it's everyone's destiny to die
and be released back into eternity, she said.
I know that God will never leave me or forsake me.
I want you to know that too, but trust takes
time and thought and experience, he said.
When we come into this world, we know nothing about life.
When we leave this world, we know nothing about death.
That's why we must learn at an early age to trust in God.
God makes all things. He made you. He made the earth,
the beautiful sky, the aging stars, and galaxies.
Only He is capable of recreating life, and He loves you.
Far beyond our dreams and consciousness,
God has the plan for the future of everyone and everything.
Our destiny begins and ends with Him
no matter who we are, or what we have, or who we know.
